More Photography Classes in 2012!

The second “Mommy Paparazzi – Taking Better Snapshots” photography class of the year will be coming in February! This class will be a 2-week course held on the dates of Feb. 21st and Feb. 28th from 9:30am-11:00am. There will be a limit of only 5 students per class in order to keep the time more individualized and focused. This class is also open to any mom with a digital camera – doesn’t have to be a big fancy one 
What mom wouldn’t love to improve those snapshots of her kids? Capture some of those awesome memories in the making! We will discuss and practice techniques on how to compose better shots, how to adjust for different lighting situations, how to manipulate the settings on your camera to achieve better shots, and more! The price for this class will be $35/person and spot must be reserved by February 13th.
I will also be doing another class for moms who own a dslr (ex. Canon Rebel series, Nikon D5100, etc…) called “Beginner’s Basics.” This will be a 3-week course held on Feb. 23rd, March 1st, and 8th from 9:30-11:00. The class will involve learning the basics of manual exposure. We will step out of the comforts of auto mode and learn what all of those other camera settings are all about! We will go over other details as well, such as focal points, white balance, and more. Only 5 openings for this class as well! The price for this class will be $60/person and place must be reserved by February 15th.

I have decided to hold my first private photography class! I loved teaching at the local community college, but it just never seemed to mesh well with my schedule. So, I made the decision to let go of it…but I have missed everything about it. Soooo, I’m now going to be offering a few different super fun and small classes!

Scheduling Valentine Mini Sessions! {Quad Cities Children Photographer}

I’m now scheduling for Valentine’s Photo Mini Sessions! These are for babies and children only can include up to 3 siblings. I decided to do something a little different with my packages this time since these will be for Valentine’s Day. I will be offering 3 different options for purchasing your session, all sets include 15-minute session:
Set #1: Includes flash drive with 3-5 high-resolution images plus a set of 50 custom Valentine’s Day Cards/Bookmarks. This is great for the older kids that pass out class Valentines! – $75 (plus tax)
Set #2: Includes flash drive with 3-5 high-resolution images – $40 (plus tax)
Set #3: Includes set of 50 custom Valentine’s Day Cards/Bookmarks – $45 (plus tax)
Valentine Mini Sessions will be held on January 21st from 9:30am – 2pm.

Just a teeny bit behind…but I’m back now! And with my first wedding details!!

Last month, I had the amazing and somewhat intimidating (aka scary) experience of photographing my first wedding! With the grace of God (and an awesome bride and groom), it turned out wonderful, and I didn’t have a panic attack from the 90 million things running through my head. I’m so excited to share a few of these wonderful shots with everyone! Although, I’m not sure that I ever want to do wedding photography full-time… I do think that being there for one every now and again is well-worth the bit of “panic” and it keeps life interesting I especially just love capturing such a special moment in two people’s lives. It’s so awesome to see the love and happiness in their eyes, and I feel blessed to be a part of that!

BIG changes coming for 2012!

It’s so hard to believe that this year is almost over! My girls are more than a little excited about trick-or-treating in a few weeks, and it always seems like after Halloween that the days before Christmas just fly by. So, I decided to go ahead and anounce my new pricing structure and format changes for 2012 a bit earlier than I had planned.
During this first year of business in the Quad Cities, I have found that around 80% of my clients usually choose to buy the cd of their session. This has made me question whether I want to continue to sell prints or become a strictly digital photographer. After plenty of thought and research, I have decided to change my pricing structure and take the more digital route. As of January 2012, I will be including a USB flash drive with every session instead of offering the cd of images as a separate purchase. I opted for the flash drive over cd/dvd because it is a much more convenient and durable way to house your photos and is convenient to back-up and share with others. With this new addition, I will be having some portrait pricing and package changes starting in January 2012. I will still be offering prints, wall canvases, and other specialty items as additional purchases.
Here is the new pricing structure for 2012:
The Ultimate: This session is up to 2 hours, and it includes 30-35 high-resolution images on a USB flash drive along with a custom 5×5 photo book with the images from your session. This is great for larger and extended families, high school senior photos, and newborns as well.- $449
The Ideal This session is up to an hour long and can only be scheduled for families of 5 or less (extra $25 per additional person). 20-25 high-resolution images are included in this session on a USB flash drive along with a custom 5×5 photo book with the images from your session. This session is perfect for all ranges of photos, including family, children, engagement sessions, business headshots, and more! – $289
Simplicity This is a 30-minute mini-session and can include up to 4 people (extra $25 per additional person). 10-15 high-resolution images are included in this session on a USB flash drive along with a spiral-bound set of 4×6 prints of the images from your session. This package is great for business headshots or capturing children’s milestones (newborn sessions are not included with this package due to the extensive timeframe needed)! $159
I will continue to have special deals and themed children’s mini-sessions a few times a year as well!

Ms. Brittany – Senior 2012 {Quad Cities High School Senior Photographer}

I had an awesome time during my latest senior photo session! This girl has some gorgeous green eyes, and a beautiful face to go right along with them. Plus, a great personality to match. She went along with all of my requests (even when I had her in some of those “can barely hold my balance” type poses hehe). She was also a student of mine in one of my spring camera classes at Black Hawk College! I may have a few more to share over the next couple of days because I loved so many from this evening, but here are a few of my favorites so far.

Happy 1st Birthday Little Ms. K! {Quad Cities Children Photographer}

On Friday, I met a little cutie who was celebrating her first birthday this weekend. Even though she was putting on her oh-so-serious face, we caught a few smiles anyway And how can you not love those big beautiful brown eyes!? 1st birthday photos are always fun when you add a little cake into the mix as well…hehe
